[about Amy] [experience] [education] [contact] [blog] |
Amy Lavergne was born in Church Point, Louisiana on May 16, 1984. She lived there until she was five years old, when she and her family moved to Round Rock, Texas for a year, and then to Cedar Park, Texas, both suburbs of Austin. In Cedar Park, she lived in the same home for about fifteen years. She attended Ada Mae Faubion Elementary School, Giddens Sixth Grade Center (which no longer exists), Cedar Park Middle School, and Cedar Park High School.
Throughout her younger years, Amy's teachers recognized her talent for writing. She started competing in University Interscholastic League writing competitions as early as sixth grade, when English teacher Charlotte Cox encouraged her to compete. Amy continued to hone her writing skills by participating middle school student newspapers and a creative writing class. In high school, Amy became largely involved in youth group activities at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin. Amy volunteered her time helping to organize prayer meetings, middle school retreats and Bible studies. This activity continued through college, when Amy began to minister to high school students by helping to organize weekly meetings as a part of the LIFE Teen Core Team. Amy has always believed that hard work would generate results. After being accepted to the University of Texas at Austin, Amy continued to work part-time at a grocery store to help pay her education expenses. After working there for four years, Amy got a job working as a teller for Wells Fargo Bank for her last semester in college. At the same time, Amy interned with the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, in their communications office. She updated content on their web site and reported on events throughout the school. It was her first real experience working as a professional communicator, and fell in love with the profession during this time. Amy is now living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved to Minnesota after deciding to continue her career with Wells Fargo working in their corporate communications department. She is now 24 years old and considers herself truly blessed to be doing what she loves so early in life. |
